Big News: Empress Editions

Mom would have turned 91 on September 25, 2025.

She passed away in 2023, so her death is still fresh, and I miss her every day. I asked Mom (yep, I speak to her all the time) to help me come up with a way to honor her for her birthday. She came up with a great one, and I shared it with Alisa Kennedy Jones, the publisher of Empress Editions.

Alisa and I have known each other for a few years. During that time, Alisa, who writes The Empress, about her midlife journey, on Substack, started a powerhouse independent publishing house, with investors and an amazing group of board members. Alisa provided one of the first reviews of The Cabernet Club and included it and my thoughts in her Substack post on January 31, 2025, the original launch day of The Cabernet Club.

I always felt that Alisa was one of my biggest fans and supporters. We got to talking earlier this year, and…in honor of Mom’s birthday, Alisa announced the culmination of those discussions, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

The press release is below, but the gist of it is this: Empress Editions is the new publisher of The Cabernet Club and will be publishing the three-book series, including a relaunch of Book 1, which I call The Cabernet Club 2.0! Mom and I are co-authors, and I know she is smiling.

And a note about my original publisher: I’m so thankful to Sibylline Press for helping me get The Cabernet Club into the world, as well as the wonderful Sibylline authors I now count as friends and colleagues. I cherish those memories and new ones we’ll make, even as I move to my new publisher.

Onward!
